How long is the DVD?
The DVD has a total run time of approximately 75 minutes. Included are an introduction, a warm up, 6 dances, floor exercises and a relaxation/stretch. Extra features include a step instruction section, a bonus dance, and of course, out takes for some extra laughs!

How old does my baby have to be before I can do the Mambo Moms workout?
I have had moms with babies as young as 4 weeks in my Mambo Moms classes. Remember that the workout is designed with many options so you can and should go at your own pace.

In addition the floor exercise and stretches include variations that you should use if your baby is younger and doesn't have good head control yet. However, you should always check with your doctor before starting this, or any postnatal exercise program.

And of course, use common sense in determining what's right for you and your baby, when you're feeling well enough to start gentle exercise, and how much you should do at one time.

How long will I be able to keep doing the Mambo Moms workout with my baby?
Since every mom and baby is different it's impossible to say exactly how long you'll be able to do these dances and exercises with your baby. In general though, as long as you and your baby both enjoy the program you can continue as long as you like.

Most moms find that sometime around baby's first birthday he starts to get too heavy to dance with for extended periods, but the beauty of this DVD is that, unlike most other workout programs, you can do it one dance at a time if you need to rest in between songs.

So it's actually possible to keep dancing for years with your little one, though of course you'll probably want to take more frequent breaks as he grows!

What's the best way to hold my baby during the dances?
Again, this really depends on the age and size of your baby, as well as your preferences.

Very young babies often do best in a sling or just held securely in mom's arms. Other moms like to use a front carrier, especially in class where we have a mirror that the babies enjoy watching themselves in. Some moms of older babies prefer a back pack style carrier. And when babies become toddlers the preference is often to hold them in your arms once again so they can get up and down easily, as this age group often loves to do!

Do what's most comfortable for both you and your baby and you won't go wrong. But please, always follow the manufacturer's guidelines for the age and weight of your baby if you choose to use any kind of baby carrier. And be aware of how baby's weight will affect your centre of balance as you dance with her.

Go slowly and take it easy at first. Soon you'll gain confidence and will be enjoying lots of dancing with your baby!

Has the Mambo Moms workout been approved by a doctor?
The workout has not been endorsed by any particular doctor, although most health professionals agree that gentle exercise is beneficial for most new moms, and that close contact with mom is good for baby.

Since every mom and baby is unique, however, please do check with your own doctor if you have any questions or concerns about whether this workout is suitable for you and your baby.
